he Desperate Mind is a 4 member punk rock band heavily influenced by seminal American punk bands Anti-Flag and NOFX.
It consists of Martin J. Polák, Filip Buršík, Winc Janeček and David Havelka.
The Desperate Mind is a punk band, formed in 2011 by Martin J. Polák (lead vocals, guitar), Filip Buršík (guitar, backing vocals), David Havelka (bass) and Winc Janeček (drums).
It is influenced by american punk bands such as NOFX, Anti-Flag, Pinhead Gunpowder, Bad Religion and Green Day, and in fact, The Desperate Mind’s sound has been compared to these bands. The band started out back in 2011 as an underground punk act, playing at really small venues around the city, and in 2014, the band recorded their first ever studio EP, titled „Symptoms of the Ignition“, and started gaining wider recognition, which eventually led to their first six months long tour ever, titled „To Hell And Back Tour 2014/2015“, on which the band toured around the big cities in the Czech Republic, with local punk bands opening for them. The band was also interviewed by the biggest czech music magazine „Rock & Pop“ and their tour was also mapped by that magazine.
In 2015, now with a lot of new fans, the band has recorded their first studio album ever, titled „Amassed Sickness“, which included their now classic fan favorites like „Total Sucker“, „Welcome To Your Nightmare“, „Drop Dead“, „Gas Mask March“, „No Time To Think“ and „Searching For The Hysteria“. The album was, for a band that has just released their first studio album, a success.
Even to that point where the band was contacted by the biggest website that is focused on punk music, called Punknews.org, and was asked for a review copy. The album scored 3.5 out of 5 stars in the review (a same score that has been given for example to NOFX’s „Wolves in Wolves Clothing“ and Green Day’s „Insomniac“) and gave the band wider international recognition, not only in the Europe, but also for example in the Americas (especially the US, Mexico and South America) and Indonesia.
The band has also established a connection with Anti-Flag’s design and sound crew, so the EP „False Flag“ by The Desperate Mind has an album art designed by Doug Dean (Anti-Flag’s album, stage and merch designer, 2015 – present).
